BIOLAWEB at 8th Congress on extant and fossil charophytes (8-11 October 2024)

 At the 8th Congress on Extant and Fossil Charophytes, held from October 8 to 11 in Melbourne (Australia), Dr Susanne Claudia Schneider (NIVA) presented part of the results obtained during BIOLAWEB project under the title "Treasures in Murky Waters? – The Search for Chara-eDNA in Water Samples". During her presentation, she shared preliminary results from an innovative study conducted across two freshwater and two saline lakes in Serbia, focusing on a new method for detecting Chara-DNA in water samples (eDNA) and comparing the results from traditional sampling and those based on eDNA analysis. 

The congress gathered researchers from around the globe, creating a vibrant atmosphere for knowledge exchange and collaboration. In addition, participants had the opportunity to join an excursion and “catch” charophytes in Lake Fyans.
