Dr Aleksandra Marković and Dr Danijela Vidaković visited NIVA in their short-term scientific mission (April 2024)

Dr Aleksandra Marković and D. Danijela Vidaković participated in the first short-term training at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) in Oslo, Norway in April 2024. NIVA is among Europe’s foremost institutes for both fundamental and applied research in marine and freshwater studies. NIVA assumes a crucial function in water resources management, furnishing research-driven investigations and consultancy on water-related challenges.

Dr Andreas Ballot prepared a training program and supervised Dr Aleksandra Marković and D. Danijela Vidaković work at NIVA. The main goal of the training was to learn the methodology for eDNA extraction and sample preparation for metabarcoding of charophyte algae. DNA extraction and the first PCR of samples collected in Serbian lakes were accomplished during the three-week stay.

Special thanks to our NIVA colleagues, Dr Andreas Ballot and Dr Susanne Schneider, for their amazing hospitality and valuable knowledge transfer.

Fresh ideas, state-of-the-art science, and new experiences are among the best values of the BIOLAWEB project!
