Final Meeting of the BIOLAWEB project (23 September 2025)

The Final Meeting of the BIOLAWEB project took place on 23 September 2025 at the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy – National Institute of the Republic of Serbia (UB-ICTM) in Belgrade. The event was officially opened with welcome remarks by Dr Jasmina Stevanović, Director of UB-ICTM, and Dr Matija Zlatar, Coordinator of the Transformation Team (SAIGE project). 

The event gathered project partners from INRAE (France) and NIVA (Norway), researchers and students from different institutions in Serbia (Faculty of Biology, Serbian Environmental Protection Agency, Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković", Institute for Multidisciplinary Research, the City Institute for Public Health Belgrade) to present the main achievements of the project and to exchange knowledge on various aspects of aquatic ecosystem monitoring. The meeting was divided into several sessions, including a retrospective of the BIOLAWEB project, presentations of research results on phytoplankton, diatoms, and macrophytes, as well as a series of invited talks diverse research related to freshwater ecosystems.

The meeting concluded with a final discussion and closing address, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration and the application of innovative methodologies for advancing water biomonitoring in Serbia and beyond.
